Best player props for Tuesday's NHL slate: Draisaitl looking to keep his point streak alive

Connor McDavid celebrates his 100th point of the regular season for Edmonton.

There are 10 games for Tuesday’s NHL slate, we’re going to take a deeper dive into 2 of the matchups and choose some player props we think will provide good value and will have a great chance of hitting. The first game starts at 7pm ET with the final game of the night starting at 10pm ET. Tonight, Steven Stamkos and Leon Draisaitl are hoping to lead their respective teams to victory.

Steven Stamkos over 2.5 shots (-118)

With Nikita Kucherov missing the last 8 games, Steven Stamkos has been promoted to the top line and has been the primary shooter on the powerplay for the Lightning. He has 14 points in 11 games and has proved he can still be a top producer in the league. He’s averaging 2.9 shots per game and has 4 or more shots in 2 of his last 4 games. He’s leading his team in shots and considering they’re playing one of the toughest teams in the league in the Carolina Hurricanes, head coach Jon Cooper has probably told Stamkos he wants him shooting the puck more today. He has an 18.8% shooting percentage, and more shots tonight could mean more goals for the Lightning.

Stamkos has been averaging 3:22 minutes on the powerplay this season and the Hurricanes have given up the 5th-most penalty minutes per game with more than 5 minor penalties a night. If Tampa has a lot of chances on the powerplay today, that will bode well for Stamkos’ shot production. Take Stamkos to get over 2.5 shots on goal tonight.

Leon Draisaitl over 1.5 points (+110)

The lethal combination of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid has been dominating the NHL this season. Currently 1st and 2nd in league scoring, with Draisaitl leading McDavid by 1 point, they seem like they’re going to carry the Edmonton Oilers all the way to the playoffs. Draisaitl is averaging more than 2 points per game going into tonight’s matchup. Additionally, he’s scored 3 or more points in his last 3 games; getting him at over 1.5 for +110 odds could be considered a bargain considering how he’s produced lately. The Red Wings have allowed the 5th-most goals per game with 3.38 a night. The Oilers powerplay is currently operating at 50% — yes you read that correctly — through the first 10 games of the season. Meanwhile, Detroit has the 5th-worst penalty kill in the league. Draisaitl has been averaging 3:40 minutes on the powerplay a night. Expect the Oilers duo to continue to dominate, and take Draisaitl to get over 1.5 points tonight.
