The World Series has tilted in the Dodgers’ favor for the time being after Los Angeles won an instant classic in 18 innings on Monday. It became a matter of survival for both teams at a certain point, with the Dodgers using every last arm in their bullpen and finally getting the big hit from Freddie Freeman to walk off a World Series game for the 2nd consecutive year. Game 4 suddenly becomes something of a must-win contest for the Blue Jays, and I’ll be targeting the first inning in this article with my YRFI/NRFI best bet. Let’s dive into today’s game, while you can also check out our MLB picks for this matchup and every game in the World Series.

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Blue Jays vs Dodgers – NRFI (-120)

Game 3 of the World Series had a little bit of everything, but it somehow didn’t feature a first-inning run. That marked the 2nd time that a run was not scored in the first inning of this series, which can certainly be instructive for Tuesday’s matchup. Therefore, even when handicapping a pair of elite offenses like we have in this series, I am going to lean towards the NRFI in this contest, especially since both starters should hold the early edge of a couple of beleaguered lineups.

For starters, both of these teams have to be absolutely exhausted following that marathon of a game on Monday, and that could bleed into the opening couple of innings at the plate. Toronto will likely be without George Springer and Bo Bichette at the top of its order, and that doesn’t bode well against Shohei Ohtani, who is coming off a stellar 6-shutout-inning performance against the Brewers in the NLCS. Ohtani has yet to allow a run in either of his postseason outings thus far, and that streak should continue on Tuesday.

On the other side, the matchup is admittedly a lot tougher for Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber on paper, especially with Ohtani swinging an incredibly hot bat at the top of the Dodgers lineup. However, it’s not as if Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman haven’t had their struggles in this World Series, and Bieber could certainly benefit from some tired approaches at the start of this game. While the Dodgers should ultimately push some runs across against the right-hander, I’ll bank on those runs coming a bit later on in his outing. With that in mind, I see slight value on the NRFI price for Game 4 and lean that way on Tuesday.
