The Toronto Blue Jays grabbed a Game 4-win Tuesday night, tying the World Series at 2-2. Game 5 presents a starting pitching rematch from Game 1, and I am excited to see how this game unfolds. Let’s dive in and preview the 1st inning for tonight’s matchup!
YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Blue Jays vs Dodgers – YRFI (-113)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -115.
Game 1 of the 2025 World Series was a somewhat surprising result with the Blue Jays winning by a dominant 11-4 final score. Despite the game soaring over the posted total, the NRFI did hit to start the game. Toronto did load the bases in their half of the 1st, and I would argue we were a bit unlucky to miss out on that plus-money YRFI cash. With increased familiarity from these lineups the 2nd time around, I do expect the YRFI to hit today despite a shift in odds. Books are currently offering -113 as the best price in market, but I still lean that way.
Trey Yesavage was the stronger starter in Game 1, tossing 4 innings with 2 earned runs allowed. He did issue 3 free passes in that start, and I expect the Dodgers to approach the start of this game with confidence. Los Angeles is a potent lineup, and Toronto has clearly been willing to pitch around Shohei Ohtani. I believe we could once again see a 1st inning walk for the sport’s best player, and we all know he is dangerous on the bases. Look for the middle of the lineup to come through for the Dodgers early on in this game.
Blake Snell was knocked around in Game 1, allowing 5 earned runs in as many innings pitched. The southpaw hurler did not have his best command, and Toronto is not the lineup to falter in that area against. The Blue Jays have elite plate discipline mixed in with quality contact metrics, and they will once again look to make Snell work from the very start of this game. While I do expect Snell to bounce back and outperform his Game 1 performance, Toronto is clearly live to score within the opening frame. At -115 or better I lean towards the YRFI in Game 5 tonight.
