Cavaliers vs Celtics Parlay Picks: Expert NBA Same Game Parlay at +406 odds

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (45) celebrates after the Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. It’s Wednesday, and that means another spectacular ESPN doubleheader in the NBA is coming our way. The Boston Celtics look to turn their season around as they host the team that finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tune in at 7:00 pm ET for the tip, and I’ve spiced things up with a Cavaliers vs Celtics Same Game Parlay at +406 odds. You can also check out our NBA picks for tonight’s busy 10-game slate, but without further ado, let’s break down each leg of our SGP!

Cleveland Cavaliers -4.5 over Boston Celtics (-105)

Boston and Cleveland are 2 teams that were neck and neck in the regular season last year, before they both flamed out in the 2nd round against the Knicks and Pacers. Both are dealing with injuries to start the year, but the Cavaliers have coped better with theirs as they currently sit at 3-1. The C’s are just 1-3 SU. The last time these 2 met, it was all Cleveland in a 123-116 win, thanks to brilliant performances from Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. All 3 of those stars are healthy and playing for the visitors, who have covered the spread in 5 of the last 6 meetings.

Going into TD Garden used to give opposing teams sleepless nights, but this season that is unlikely to be the case. Without Jayson Tatum, the Celtics look like a team that’s destined for the play-in tournament at best, as they’re only 1-4 ATS/SU in their last 5 games. If the three-ball is off to a slow start, it could be a long night for Boston. I’ll be sticking with the in-form Cavaliers here.

Donovan Mitchell to score 35+ points (+200)

Scoring has been off the charts in these first 7 or so days of the new NBA season. Right now, we have a total of 9 players averaging more than 30 points per game, which is truly remarkable. One of those players is Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, who is at 31.3 points per game, despite not having a signature game as crazy as that might sound. Consistency has been the key for Donovan — he has 3 games of 30+ points and has cleared this mark twice in the 4 games played so far. Wednesday’s clash against the Celtics could be another one of those games, if recent history is an indicator.

Mitchell’s numbers are off the charts in recent meetings with the C’s – he’s putting up 33.7 points per game on 49% efficiency from the field and almost 41% from three. To his name, he has two 40-point performances as well during this stretch, while in the last 4 meetings he has scored 35 or more points three times. The absence of Tatum has disrupted the Celtics chemistry on both ends, I do not believe they will have an answer for the Cavs shooting guard in this game.
