Alabama Crimson Tide ML (+135) over Tennessee Volunteers
On Wednesday night in Knoxville, the most significant game of the SEC regular season will take place. Still unbeaten in conference play, Alabama is the top team in the country. However, the fact that the Crimson Tide are playing in Knoxville might make a difference. I anticipated Alabama to be favored by 3 or 4 points, but the Tide are currently 3-point underdogs, which baffles me. Not only are they the nation’s top team, but they are also 8-1 on the road, ranked 13th in offensive efficiency and 6th in defensive rating.
With the exception of an unusual setback at Oklahoma, the Tide perform well wherever they travel. An example of that is when they defeated Houston on their home court not too long ago. Tennessee has had some bad luck recently, losing at the buzzer in their last 2 contests, but considering their most recent loss was to unranked Mississippi State, this could be the start of Tenneessee’s downfall. Back Bama to show why they’re the best team in the country and beat the Vols.
TCU Horned Frogs ML (+155) over Iowa State Cyclones
In a matchup of some strong but struggling teams, TCU will travel north to face Iowa State on Wednesday night. However, TCU could get a huge boost to its offense and defense if Mike Miles is back. The Horned Frogs recently lost Miles, their top scorer, to a knee injury and many believed it would be the end of his season, but he returned to practice on Tuesday and appeared to be fully involved. If Miles is healthy enough to play and can give TCU 15-20 or so productive minutes, the scale instantly shifts in the Horned Frogs’ favor.
Even while TCU has been losing without him, the Frogs haven’t exactly crumbled. Without Miles, they have come close to winning most of their games, but they have needed their star to close the game out. And if Miles is not healthy enough to go, I still think this TCU team has enough fight to take down Iowa State, which has a severely below-average offense.

Marquette Golden Eagles -6 (-110) over Xavier Musketeers
With a 19-6 overall record and an 11-3 conference record, Xavier has played well this season. In the Musketeers’ most recent game, they lost 69-67 against a good Butler team on the road and they are in danger of starting their second losing streak of the season. They travel to face the Golden Eagles, who have exceeded expectations set by the majority of college basketball experts. They have lost only once at home this season, which speaks volumes about the positive impact playing in front of their home crowd has had on them. I anticipate the Golden Eagles to come out prepared for vengeance after barely losing to Xavier on January 15. I will continue to back Marquette on their home court until they show any signs of weakness.
