I'm an NFL handicapper here at Pickswise who was raised in a household full of sports fanatics. Since I unfortunately never had LeBron James' jumping ability I wasn't able to make it to the NBA, and chose writing about sports as the next best thing. An avid sports bettor myself, I'm excited to get to write about the industry as it gets set to take off across the country. Buckle up. College football is back in full swing, and last week’s huge slate certainly didn’t disappoint. As we get ready for Week 4, we’ve got tons of great content coming. We of course have free picks on the side and total for all the big games, which you can view in our NCAAF picks tab. Make sure to also catch up on all our analysis articles like this one under our college football news section.

Today, we’re talking teasers. Personally, I much prefer to bet teasers in the NFL, where points are more valuable. But I understand that plenty of people are going to bet college football teasers regardless, so we may as well make sure you’re on the best ones. Let’s dive right into my favorite teasers for Week 4:

Wisconsin -0.5 (6-point tease from -6.5) over Notre Dame

I always like to use my teaser legs in games where points are going to be at a premium. That’s why with a total that’s at a flat 45, this game makes a lot of sense to target. It’s pretty much the lowest total on the entire board. Wisconsin wants to lean on their ground game, which is why their contests against top competition often turn into low-scoring defensive struggles. In their opener against Penn State, there were only 26 total points scored. I like the Badgers’ matchup a lot here, since Notre Dame has really struggled to stop the run this year. Chez Mellusi, coming off a game in which he rushed for 144 yards, should have a field day. But if you’re worried about Wisconsin’s ability to run up the score given their style of play, understandably so, they’d make for an attractive teaser leg.

Army -1.5 (6-point tease from -7.5) over Miami (OH)

Speaking of teams that want to lean on their ground game, Army would certainly qualify. The Black Knights have attempted all of 13 passes through three games. They’ve surprisingly played in some high-scoring games to start the year, but that probably won’t last much longer. The total here isn’t too much higher than the Wisconsin one at 48.5. Three of Army’s last six wins have come by three or fewer points. As such, I could totally understand thinking they’ll beat Miami (OH) but also not wanting to lay multiple scores with them. Miami (OH) only lost by five points on the road against Minnesota in their most recent defeat, so they’re clearly capable of hanging around against better teams even if they won’t finish off the victory.

Iowa State -1.0 (6-point tease from -7.0) over Baylor

It’s not every day that you see a Big 12 total this low, at 47.5. But Iowa State is an enigma in the conference, and they’re certainly not the kind of team that’s going to win too many blowouts. In their opener the Cyclones couldn’t even put away FCS school Northern Iowa until the very end, eventually winning 16-10. In their second game against Iowa, they scored only 17 points and lost outright as sizable favorites. They want to rely on their defense, and it’s a good one. They held UNLV to just 3 points last week. Baylor’s defense has also been a strength this season, as they’ve surrendered only 34 total points through 3 games. This one could come down to the wire, and I can see it being decided by a late field goal. A touchdown may be a bit much to lay given the state of this Iowa State offense, but you can tease it down through all the key numbers and get it down to -1.0.
