The Los Angeles Dodgers fought off elimination with a Game 6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays last night. That win has forced a deciding Game 7 Saturday night on Fox. The 2 best words in sports are “Game 7,” especially when it is a game that decides baseball’s latest champion. Let’s dive in and preview the 1st inning of Game 7!

The original stated plan for the Dodgers was to start Tyler Glasnow in a possible Game 7, but with the right-hander closing out Game 6 last night, the Dodgers have yet to name a starter for Saturday’s matchup. Luckily for the Dodgers they have numerous options they can trust. The talent on this roster is immense on both the hitting and pitching sides. Their pitching staff has found health and their best form at a crucial time, and they hope they can patch together one more pitching plan tonight in Game 7. There is speculation that Shohei Ohtani may open the game for the Dodgers given his familiarity with that role earlier in the season. He did just pitch 6 innings on the 28th in Game 4, so it remains to be seen what his leash will look like. It will be a defining moment in the storied career of Ohtani if he does indeed draw the start, and I presume he will be ready for the moment. It wasn’t until the 3rd inning of Game 4 that Toronto scored off Ohtani, and I expect another scoreless frame from his side in Game 7. As always, make sure to see a starter named before placing your wager.
Max Scherzer has been named as the starter for the Blue Jays in Game 7. The 41-year-old will make his 3rd start of this postseason run and his 2nd of the World Series tonight. Scherzer is a future hall-of-famer, and he is seeking out his 3rd championship with as many teams. The right-hander was Toronto’s starter in Game 4’s historic 18-inning battle. He did allow 2 home runs and total earned runs in his 4.1 innings, but outside of those 2 mistakes pitches I thought he looked pretty good. With the stakes of this game, I wouldn’t expect him to work too deep into the game, but he likely knows that going into tonight. That will allow him to empty the tank for his season, and perhaps his career if he can walk away a champion tonight. Look for a fired up Scherzer in the 1st inning tonight.
