Everything you need to know as sports betting goes live in Arizona
Sports betting is now legal in the state of Arizona with legal online sportsbook now taking bets from Thursday, September 9.
Legal operators including DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook are now able to accept wagers from bettors under Arizona regulations, with many others set to go live in the state in the next few weeks.
Anyone within the state and over the age of 21 can register and wager on a number of different sports and markets, including money line, spread, total, props, and parlays. The launch coincides with the start of the 2021 NFL season, with the Dallas Cowboys taking on Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. As well as DraftKings and FanDuel, the likes of BetMGM, Caesars, and TwinSpires are also taking bets and there could be as many as 18 legal betting operators in Arizona by the end of 2021. It is the 12th state to host multiple statewide sportsbooks, and the 24th state to have at least one legal betting operator.
Arizona residents now have the ability to bet on their local sports teams, including the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL, the Arizona Diamondbacks in MLB, the Phoenix Suns in the NBA, and the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL. Betting on college sports is also an option, with the Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils also open to be wagered on in college football and college basketball.
