2025 Club World Cup best bet: Real Madrid (+400)
Any question marks about how seriously the big European teams would be taking the Club World Cup were instantly dismissed when Real Madrid paid an extra $11 million to release Trent Alexander-Arnold from his Liverpool contract a month early so that he could feature in this tournament. New head coach Xabi Alonso and new central defender Dean Huijsen were also rushed in the door so that Los Blancos could win the first expanded version of this tournament.
Real Madrid are no strangers to this event, having won it 5 times between 2014 and 2022. The Spaniards missed out to Barcelona on the La Liga and Copa del Rey titles and were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal, so will be hungry to add some silverware to what has been an unusually quiet season. With Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham at their disposal, Los Blancos have plenty of attacking options and the signing of Huijsen should shore up their defensive issues. Real Madrid suffered plenty of injuries last season but could bounce back in America.
Paris Saint-Germain are next in the betting but their Champions League win may well have taken something out of them, while Manchester City’s dismal performances at times this season makes them hard to trust. Real Madrid look like a solid pick to win the title.
2025 Club World Cup longshot pick: Borussia Dortmund (+2500)

However this expanded format will only further suit the European clubs, as their quality will come to the fore over the longer period. As a result, it seems logical to focus on one of their teams and Dortmund look like a longshot that could outperform their odds.

They were only narrowly knocked out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals by Barcelona and could continue their recent impressive form with a deep run in this tournament.
