Virginia Cavaliers +7 over Florida State Seminoles (-110)
Virginia brought in a bunch of players over the offseason via the transfer portal and while I was skeptical of how all the pieces would coalesce, this offense has some real juice to it. Cavaliers quarterback Chandler Morris has been around the block a few times and heās an experienced signal-caller that leads an offense that is putting up points at a very high rate. Tony Elliotās team should be able to succeed against a Florida State defense that is stout up front, but has some exploitable areas in the secondary (52nd in EPA per dropback).
Thereās no doubt that the Seminoles have been very impressive to this point, but considering that 2 of their wins came against the likes of East Texas A&M and Kent State, their resume certainly leaves a lot to be desired. Additionally, the spot here is one that favors Virginia, as Mike Norvellās team has a massive game on deck with Miami coming to town next weekend. With that in mind, it could be a challenge for the āNoles to get up for a road game against a Virginia team that has surely had this one circled for a few weeks now. This will be a clear step up in class compared to Florida Stateās recent competition, and Iām not sure that the Seminoles will be able to win by multiple possessions on the road. Let’s take Virginia with the points.

Over 60.5 (-110)
Both of these teams are capable of being very explosive, and weāve seen as such in each of their first few games. This game certainly has the potential to devolve into more of a shootout, and that would actually favor our handicap on Virginia to keep this one within a possession. The Cavaliers offense is going to put up points on pretty much any opponent, as Virginia boasts a top 20 unit in passing success rate, 3rd and 4th down success rate and points per drive, while Virginia is also 4th nationally in quality drive rate. The same goes for Florida State, as the ‘Noles should be able to score on a Virginia defense that has middling metrics when it comes to rushing success rate allowed and Early Downs EPA. The over is the only way I can look in this one.

Gavin Sawchuk (FSU) anytime TD scorer (-240)
To close out our Same Game Parlay for this weekend’s matchup, let’s focus on Gavin Sawchuk to find the endzone yet again this season. The top Florida State running back has had no trouble tallying touchdowns to this point, as he’s racked up 6 touchdowns over the first 3 games, with at least 1 score coming in each contest. The Seminoles are a run-first team and Gus Malzahn’s offense is one that emphasizes different run game concepts to confuse opposing defenses, meaning that chunk plays are certainly on the menu in this game. It’s a bit chalky, but this is a nice non-correlated piece to give our parlay some more value on Friday.
