Following 3 days of action, Round 1 at Roland Garros is complete. Second-round competition gets underway on Wednesday with a busy schedule that includes Carlos Alcaraz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Lorenzo Musetti, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. I went 3-0 on Tuesday, pushing my record to 6-3 for the tournament, so let’s keep the momentum going! Let’s take a look at the French Open best bets to be made on the Day 4 schedule, while you can still find out our French Open men’s predictions and French Open women’s picks for who will win the respective singles tournaments.
Jenson Brooksby +5.5 games over Sebastian Korda (-105)
Jenson Brooksby’s 2025 clay-court season already includes his first ATP title in Houston and he is coming off a 4-set win over Jaime Faria in the opening round at Roland Garros. Although Faria isn’t exactly a big name in tennis, the Portuguese player is dangerous on clay. It’s a result for Brooksby that should not be overlooked. Sebastian Korda is undoubtedly the more talented clay-court player of these 2 Americans, but he has a history of underwhelming at the 4 majors. Korda could be feeling a lot of pressure, especially against a compatriot whom he is expected to beat. Don’t be shocked if Brooksby wins this one straight up, but taking him on the game handicap is the safer play.
Eva Lys Over 11.5 games won vs Victoria Mboko (-150)
Eva Lys is playing by far the best tennis of her career this season and advanced to the 4th round at the Australian Open. That run alone gives her the confidence to know she can get it done at the biggest tournaments in the world. The German opened with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over an in-form Peyton Stearns, so you have to like her chances against a much lesser-known opponent in Mboko. The Canadian is only 18 years old and has been playing lots of tennis in recent weeks. Mental and physical fatigue could be factors sooner rather than later — especially on this kind of enormous stage, one on which she has zero experience. In fact, this French Open marks Mboko’s first-ever Grand Slam appearance.
Tallon Griekspoor ML over Gabriel Diallo (-155)
Tallon Griekspoor has been playing great. He is up to #35 in the world and will almost certainly be seeded at the remaining Grand Slams in 2025. It’s surprising that he isn’t already. The Dutchman is performing well on clay, which is nothing new for him after he pushed eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev to a 5th-set tiebreaker at the 2024 French Open. Meanwhile, Gabriel Diallo did extremely well to defeat Francisco Cerundolo on Monday. Still, the 23-year-old Canadian is a relative novice on this surface. He owns 17 clay-court match wins during his young career; Griekspoor stands with 167 in that department. I’m backing the favorite with confidence.
