Third-round competition at the French Open gets underway on Friday, when Carlos Alcaraz, Lorenzo Musetti, Ben Shelton, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka take the court. An intriguing all-American showdown pits Frances Tiafoe against Sebastian Korda, and I’ve got a French Open best bet for that matchup at plus-money odds! We went 2-1 with our predictions yesterday after getting beaten by the hook in Arnaldi vs Cobolli, so let’s go one better today! Here are my French Open predictions for the Day 6 schedule on Friday, May 30.

French Open best bet: Frances Tiafoe ML over Sebastian Korda (+100)

Tiafoe and Korda both have 3 wins in the head-to-head series and they are separated by just 7 spots in the rankings (Tiafoe is #16, Korda is #23). Aside from that, however, there aren’t many similarities between these 2 Americans. And the differences may be enough to give Tiafoe the edge on Friday. Tiafoe absolutely loves the big stage. He is pretty much an entirely different player at Grand Slams than he is at smaller tournaments. The U.S. Open is his favorite by a wide margin, but the French Open certainly piques his interest. The 27-year-old was awesome in a straight-set beatdown of Pablo Carreno Busta on Wednesday.

Korda, on the other hand, often plays well at smaller events and underachieves at majors. In fact, his last 8 slam results dating back to Roland Garros in 2023 are 2nd round, 1st round, 1st round, 3rd round, 3rd round, 1st round, 2nd round and 2nd round. Tiafoe has great value as a slight underdog and is my French Open best bet today.

French Open Parlay: Lorenzo Musetti ML over Mariano Navone and Amanda Anisimova ML over Clara Tauson (-121)

Musetti has been in incredible form – especially on clay – dating back to the summer of 2024. His results include a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics and he also made a surprising grass-court run to the Wimbledon semifinals. On clay this spring he has already finished runner-up in Monte-Carlo and has reached the semifinals in Madrid and Rome. As for Mariano Navone, he has cooled off big-time since a stellar 2024 season.

This women’s match will likely be more competitive, but you have to like Amanda Anisimova’s chances. She is a former French Open semifinalist, whereas Clara Tauson is not quite as adept on clay due to inferior movement and defensive skills. Anisimova is among the best players on tour when healthy – which she is at the moment.

French Open prediction: Jelena Ostapenko Over 10.5 games won vs Elena Rybakina (-125)

Elena Rybakina is curiously priced as a sizable favorite; for me, though, this match is a tossup. In fact, I would even back Jelena Ostapenko to win it outright. That being said, Over 10.5 games won by the Latvian also has solid value. That covers a lot of bases: any Ostapenko win, basically any 3-set loss and also a tight straight-set loss such as 7-6, 7-6 or 7-6, 7-5. Ostapenko is a former French Open champion and she has a clay-court title under her belt this spring (Stuttgart, where she upset Swiatek). Rybakina’s season has been a struggle both on and off the court, so she is definitely on upset alert.
