It’s the proverbial Grand Slam season on the tennis circuit, with 3 of the 4 majors taking place between late spring and the end of the summer. Up next is the French Open, which begins on Sunday in Paris. On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are by far the top 2 favorites to lift La Coupe des Mousquetaires. However, other contenders like Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev cannot be discounted.
Let’s take a look at the Roland Garros outright odds and discuss some of the best bets to make.

French Open tennis 3-star best bet: Jannik Sinner (+225)
I have been on the Sinner bandwagon since he got suspended for 3 months. Obviously the time off isn’t ideal, but it could be a blessing in disguise at the French Open. While everyone else on tour was slogging away on the clay-court grind and putting their bodies through the wringer, Sinner was resting. And it’s not like he was out with an injury – he was away from tournaments but still training every day. Sure enough, in his first event back the Italian went all the way to the Rome final. Alcaraz took care of him at that point, but that still won’t deter me from backing Sinner in Paris. With some matches – but not too many – under his belt, the top seed should be even better at Roland Garros than he was in Rome.
French Open tennis 2-star best bet: Alexander Zverev (+1600)
With Sinner banned for 3 months, Zverev had a chance to become #1 in the world for the first time in his career. That pressure got to him, and instead the 28-year-old German went in the wrong direction – he is now #3 behind both Sinner and Alcaraz. It’s not all bad news, however. The pressure is now off for all intents and purposes, and expectations are relatively low in Paris. All the way down at +1600, Zverev has outstanding value. He reached the French Open final in 2024 and came within 1 set of the title before falling to Alcaraz in 5. Although Zverev has struggled in recent months, he at least showed signs of life with a recent title on the red clay of Hamburg. The #3 seed’s draw isn’t great in Sinner’s half and Djokovic’s quarter, but he can beat anyone on any given day.
French Open tennis 1-star best bet: Lorenzo Musetti (+2700)
For a relative longshot play, Musetti looks like the move to make. And why not? Nobody other than Alcaraz is playing better than the Musetti at the moment (okay, Sinner probably would be if he had been active). The eighth-ranked Italian finished runner-up to Alcaraz at the Monte-Carlo Masters and is coming off back-to-back semifinal performances in Madrid and Rome. As if that isn’t enough, he was also the bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics – which was played at none other than Roland Garros. Finally, Musetti has a fantastic draw in Taylor Fritz’s quarter and in the half of the bracket away from Sinner, Zverev and Djokovic.
