Here are three runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
12:10 pm Parx (Race 1) – Heartness 2/1
The Great Notion gelding has plenty of experience for a juvenile and he has finished on the board in four of his seven previous starts. The most recent of those came when finishing runner-up in a seven furlong maiden claimer at Laurel Park last month. The front two were clear of the remainder that day and tackling the same grade here the selection is taken to get off the mark stepping up in distance on his return to this track.
12:37 pm Parx (Race 2) – Portal One 6/5
The Scott Lake-trained filly completed a hat-trick when registering a three length victory having made all from the inside gate in a six furlong claimer here last month. While the wide draw here isn’t ideal here he tackles the same grade of race and the form of his latest victory is working out well with the runner-up Frosted Indian winning at this venue on Monday. Looks likely to prove hard to beat with Mychel Sanchez in the saddle.
1:58 pm Parx (Race 5) – Lady Valentine 5/2
Todd Pletcher’s filly has shown plenty of ability in her five starts to date placing four times in maiden special weights on the New York circuit including when third over seven furlongs at Belmont Park at the end of October. The drop in distance here should prove no issue and with Kendrick Carmouche booked to ride and tackling what looks an easier contest the Into Mischief is the selection following a 1:02.01 five furlong breeze at Belmont Park.
