4:06 pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Queen Picasso 5/1 (2-star play)

A field of six three-year-old fillies go to post for the Grade 3 Soaring Softly Stakes which features some lovely types and I like the chances of Queen Picasso who is a daughter of the champion miler Kingman and won nicely on debut back in March. She didn’t go unfancied for that debut run at Gulfstream Park and did it well under a steady ride from Jose Oritz who takes the ride again here.

4:40 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Rocco Strong 5/1 (2-star play)

Race 8 at Belmont Park is a mile Claiming event which is for older horses, all of which bring a vast array of experience and, Rocco Strong, who has form figures of 32 in Claiming races at this course, can strike for Carlos Martin and his team. Dylan Davis’s mount has been freshened up nicely by connections and on his best form he is more than good enough to win this.

5:12 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Mo Z 7/2 (2-star play)

Christophe Clement saddles a potentially nice horse in Mo Z here who has been putting in some solid workouts of late and can make up for lost time in the penultimate race at Belmont Park. He was last seen eighteen months ago winning his maiden in tenacious fashion at Fair Grounds and it would not surprise should he at least be up to this Allowance level coming from such a powerful yard.

5:44 pm Belmont Park (Race 10) – Autumn 8/1 (1-star play)

The finale is a Maiden Special Weight in which Loon Cry is likely to be an overwhelming favourite as she has been knocking on the door in recent starts but this can go to the filly in gate seven, Autumn, who had no luck on debut last month. She clipped heels and fell at Aqueduct so that run can be forgotten and her sire, Constitution, was very useful in his debut season so Autumn is well worth keeping an eye on.
