Horse Racing picks for Belmont Park race track on Sunday, May 1: Too Sexy, too fast

1:00 pm Belmont Park (Race 1) – Colloquy 6/5 (2-star pick)

Demonstrated plenty of ability in two starts to date debuting with a seven length third in a maiden special weight over an extended seven furlong sat Aqueduct in February. Raced from off the pace that day but was ridden more prominently when a length second upped to an extended mile at the same venue subsequently. Sets the standard on form here and is taken to get off the mark at the third time of asking for trainer Christophe Clement.

3:14 pm Belmont Park (Race 5) – Soldier Rising 7/5 (2-star pick)

Showed good form in France winning twice from four starts and while he’s yet to score in four outings since switching to the Christophe Clement barn he has finished on the board in three of those. Usually races from off the pace as was the case when half-a-length third in the Grade 2 Red Smith Stakes over a mile-and-three-eighths at Aqueduct in November and he looks up to making his first start of 2022 a winning one down in grade.

4:54 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Too Sexy 1/1 (2-star pick)

Debuted in stakes company with an impressive three-and-a-quarter-length victory over an extended six furlongs in the Floral Park Stakes at this venue back in October. Made just the one subsequent start when finishing runner-up at Aqueduct the following month and while she has yet to start this year she has demonstrated good form in the mornings. Has a good draw and with Joel Rosario in the saddle the Quality Road mare is taken to score on seasonal debut.
