This son of Nyquist showed ability in finishing on the board in his first 2 starts, including when 8 lengths 3rd in a 7-furlong $75,000 maiden claiming event at Churchill Downs in his debut.
The 3-year-old can be forgiven a below-par effort when 8th at Keeneland on his first start following a gelding operation last time out. The drop in grade today is a positive move and he is taken to score at the fourth attempt.
3:01 pm ET Churchill Downs (Race 5) – Private Creed 5/2 (2-star play)
The 3-year-old Private Creed has been competing in stakes races since placing 3rd in the Grade 1 Juvenile Turf Sprint at last year’s Breeders’ Cup meeting. The Jimmy Creed colt came home 2.25-lengths clear of his rivals over 6.5 furlongs in the Grade 2 Franklin-Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs two months ago.
The shorter distance today is no issue and coming into this contest on the back of a 37.80 3-furlong work, he is selected to complete a double.

Trained by J Keith Desormeaux, Bear River has registered 5th-place finishes in all 3 of his starts. Two of those efforts have come in stakes company, including when beaten 3.75-lengths in a Listed stakes over 5 furlongs at Santa Anita just over a month ago.
David Cohen takes the ride for the first time today and, switched to a maiden auction race, the son of Flameaway looks up to registering his first victory the fourth attempt.
