Horse Racing picks for Finger Lakes race track on Wednesday, September 14: Runabout can run fast in 60th race

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Wednesday, including at Finger Lakes race track. We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now and we are up +314.2 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Finger Lakes.

3:25 pm ET Finger Lakes (Race 6) – Flattery’s Music 5/2 (2-star play)

Race 6 at Finger Lakes is a $16,000 maiden claiming event for the female division over an extended 5 furlongs on the dirt and the one they all have to beat is the Linda Rice-trained Flattery’s Music, who is dropping into this grade for the first time.

She has form figures of 465 in competitive maiden special weights and has been showing up well, so she will welcome this much easier task and should win her first race.

3:52 pm ET Finger Lakes (Race 7) – Laban M Mo 3/1 (2-star play)

A field of 8 is set to go to post for this allowance contest over an extended mile trip and I like the chances of the youngest horse in this field, Laban M Mo, who was a comfortable winner at this level over course and distance a couple of months ago and comes into this with every chance.

Rachel Sells’ 3-year-old won that race by a cosy 2 lengths and has finished 2nd in 2 similar events since, so I see no reason why he cannot put up a bold showing.

4:19 pm ET Finger Lakes (Race 8) – Runabout 7/2 (2-star play)

Runabout is a bit of a legend on the US racing circuit as this vastly experienced gelding will be having his 60th career start when lining up in the penultimate race at Finger Lakes and he can make it an 11th career victory in this starter optional claimer.

He has finished in the first 3 in 39 of those runs, 10 of which have resulted in victories, and he comes into this after a routine win in a claimer at Monmouth Park and his appetite for the game remains as strong as ever.

4:46 pm ET Finger Lakes (Race 9) – Stay Home Mama 6/1 (1-star play)

The finale at Finger Lakes is a competitive $12,600 claiming race in which 8 older fillies and mares are lining up over a mile and a 16th and a case can be made for many, with preference for Stay Home Mama, who has won twice at Finger Lakes at this level and represents value.

There’s no doubt she has the ability to win this, so hopefully jockey Joel Cruz can get across and into a nice early position from the outside gate.
