There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Thursday, including at Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct race tracks. Yesterday 2nd place was the closest we came, but after 11 winners in the previous 19 picks, we have high hopes of getting back on the winning trail!
Here are 4 runners we expect to show up well today. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.
2:18 pm ET Aqueduct (Race 4) – Big Q 5/2
Aqueduct Race 4 favorite Beautiful Karen doesn’t have a strong strike-rate and it’s best to side with Thomas Morley’s mare Big Q in this contest. She’s drawn alongside in stall 2 and finished second in a pair of stakes races in New York in 2020. She was seen just twice last year and posted a promising effort at Aqueduct last time, not beaten far in a $74,000 contest despite having to race 6-wide. With her sights markedly lowered, she has an excellent chance of returning to winning ways.
3:50 pm ET Aqueduct (Race 7) – Trinni Luck 3/1
Rudy Rodriguez’s mare Trinni Luck completed a hat-trick in 2021, winning races at Belmont and Saratoga in great fashion. She has subsequently been tilted at stakes company, where she’s found things tougher, though there were excuses for her heavy defeat at Aqueduct last time. She’s back down in grade today and will benefit from her rider removing 10 pounds off her back. Still unexposed, she can notch another victory.
4:20 pm ET Aqueduct (Race 8) – Cape Cod Causeway 7/2
A daughter of Creative Cause, Cape Cod Causeway cost $57,000 as a yearling and made a promising debut over the extended mile at Aqueduct in December. Sent off at a big price, she was wide throughout the journey and lacked the finishing kick to secure the show. It was still a good effort, however, and cutting back to a mile will help. She runs on Lasix for the first time and, drawn well in stall 3, she’s an obvious contender.
4:42 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Super Design 9/2
Wesley Ward runs two in this contest and the bigger-priced Super Design makes the most appeal. A son of Super Saver, he made a winning debut at Kentucky Downs in September, driving clear of some useful rivals in comfortable fashion. He perhaps found things happening too soon on his allowance debut last time and this smaller field should help. It’s still early days for him and, down in grade, he can get back on track for his top trainer.
