4:08 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Super Ocho 4/1 (2-star play)

Race 9 is the only stakes race on the card and this is the $125,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint which features 7 older horses going to post over 6 furlongs on the dirt. I like Amador Sanchez’s charge, Super Ocho. He was a dual Group 2 winner in Chile and was very impressive when making every yard of the running to win an Allowance Optional Claimer at Delta Downs by five-and-three-quarter lengths last time, so he comes here in red-hot form.

4:38 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 10) – Makin My Move 5/1 (1-star play)

John Kimmel’s Makin My Move wasn’t beaten far when finishing fourth in this Allowance Optional Claiming grade last time and she can put her best foot forward in Race 10. This daughter of Carpe Diem has 4 wins in 9 career starts and will come on from that latest outing as it was her first for over 3 months. She’s more than capable of taking this, as she is a stakes winner who has been putting in some solid workouts of late.

5:07 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 11) – American Prince 9/2 (1-star play)

The penultimate contest at Gulfstream Park is an Allowance Optional Claimer over a mile on the dirt and one who can go well in an open race is Paco Lopez’s mount, American Prince. Michael Maker’s 5-year-old is a course and distance winner who showed grit and determination to run second in a Claimer last time, which was over a furlong shorter than this — so moving back up to a mile will suit.

5:37 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 12) – Carl Spackler 6/5 (2-star play)

A field of 10 3-year-old males go to post for the finale, which is a Maiden Special Weight on the turf. This can go to Chad Brown’s Carl Spackler, who ran with great promise when second over an extended mile on debut here last month. This is a nice colt. After being bumped early and having to come four wide, he took the lead in the stretch but got run out of it late. So with a similar performance over this lesser trip, he can get off the mark.
