The field passes the finish line for the first time during the 67th running of the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Thursday, including at Gulfstream Park race track. We have been in fine form with our picks for a long time now and we are up +236.42 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Gulfstream Park race track.

2:38 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Battle Cry 4/5 (3-star play)

Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a $35,000 Starter Optional Claimer for the female division over a mile trip on the dirt and Battle Cry, who is looking to win a 4th straight race, should be hard to beat.

This consistent 5-year-old has won 3 of her last 4 starts in this grade and comes in after a comfortable 9 1/2 length victory over course and distance, so I wouldn’t want to be taking her on just yet.

3:07 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Zelda 9/2 (1-star play)

A competitive field goes to post for this Allowance Optional Claiming event, which is taking place on the turf course and I like the chances of Frankie Dettori’s mount in stall 12, Zelda, who is ex-French trained and should enjoy the conditions of this race.

She won 3 times for Jean-Claude Rouget in France and wasn’t beaten far when 6th in the French 1,000 Guineas last year, so if she puts her best foot forward everyone else could be playing for places.

3:36 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – Hoax 5/2 (2-star play)

The penultimate contest at Gulfstream Park features 7 promising 3-year-old fillies who line up for a 5-furlong Allowance on the all-weather surface with the Todd Pletcher-trained Hoax being the one they all have to beat.

She won her maiden at Gulfstream Park last summer and connections have been campaigning her very lightly since. Her latest 2nd place in Allowance Optional Claiming company is good enough form to have a big say in this and she is coming along nicely.

4:05 pm ET Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Storm 8/1 (1-star play)

Juan Alvarado’s Storm has run fantastic races in defeat in her last 2 efforts and Edgard Zayas’s mount looks ready to make it third time lucky in this Maiden Optional Claimer.

She had to come wide when finishing 2nd in her debut while showing signs of greenness and followed that up with a 3rd-placed effort, with both of those runs being at this course, so if her jockey can get into a nice position early from the gates then she can run a big race.
