Horse Racing picks for Keeneland on Thursday, October 13: Fast As Flight set for takeoff

There is plenty of great horse racing across America on Thursday, including at Keeneland race track. We have been on fire with our picks for a long time now and, after 2 winners at Parx on Wednesday, we are up +291.24 units with our race selections to our recommended stakes dating back to August 5, 2021. Let’s keep it rolling!

Here are our best bets for today’s action at Keeneland race track.

4:12 pm ET Keeneland (Race 7) – Wilderzar 12/1 (1-star play)

Race 7 at Keeneland is a maiden special weight which features some impeccably bred 2-year-olds lining up over 7 furlongs on the dirt. One who catches the eye is the Norman Cash-trained Wilderzar, who was 2nd in his debut at Churchill Downs at the start of this month and can put that experience to good use.

He was slowly away, but made up lots of ground and stayed on nicely to finish 2nd over an extended 6 furlongs, so this step up in trip will suit and he represents good value at double-digit odds.

4:44 pm ET Keeneland (Race 8) – Static Fire 4/5 (3-star play)

A field of 6 fillies goes to post for this $120,000 allowance optional claiming event over a sprint trip of 6 furlongs. The others have their work cut out to beat the filly in the outside stall, Static Fire, who has run well in stakes races on her last 2 starts.

She’s already a winner in allowance company and wasn’t beaten far when finishing 4th in a competitive stakes race at Kentucky Downs last time, so if she can run to that form she should win this.

5:16 pm ET Keeneland (Race 9) – Fast As Flight 6/1 (1-star play)

We switch to the turf course for the penultimate contest at Keeneland which is an open-looking $110,000 allowance for the female division over a mile and I like the chances of Brian Lynch’s Fast As Flight, who is improving nicely.

It took 6 attempts to break her maiden, but she did so in comfortable style at Gulfstream Park before a fine 4th-placed effort in this grade at Kentucky Downs last month. She is ideally drawn to stalk the pace and pounce under Adam Beschizza.

5:48 pm ET Keeneland (Race 10) – Fleetridge 3/1 (2-star play)

The finale at Keeneland is a hotly contested starter allowance with many horses holding some form of chance, but it can pay to side with Fleetridge, who is in fine form this season.

His form figures this campaign read 2121213, which includes victories in claiming, allowance and allowance optional claiming company and a 2nd-placed effort in a Grade 3 race, so if he puts his best foot forward he should be tough to beat.
