Lady Goldstart has demonstrated good form in allowance optional claiming contests at Canterbury Park this year, including when 1 1/2 lengths 2nd over 5 furlongs on a good main track there in August.
Bidding to complete a hat-trick that day, the 4-year-old is a versatile sort tactics-wise and having advertised her wellbeing with a couple of 4-furlong breezes at Keeneland this month, the daughter of Upstart is selected to register a first victory at this meeting for handler Ian R Wilkes.
3:08 pm ET Keeneland (Race 5) – American Starlet 2/1 (2-star play)
American Starlet tried to make all when placing 2nd in a 5 1/2 furlong allowance contest on a firm turf track at Saratoga on her penultimate start. She appeared to struggle with the 7-furlong trip when fading into 6th, beaten 8 lengths, at Kentucky Downs subsequently.
She represents the Wesley Ward yard, who do well with their sprinting juveniles, and the daughter of Twirling Candy is taken to deliver a victory under John Velazquez now dropping back in trip.
3:40 pm ET Keeneland (Race 6) – Cyclone Mischief 9/5 (2-star play)
Cyclone Mischief was purchased for $450,000 as a yearling at the Keeneland September sale last year. The son of Into Mischief showed plenty of ability when finishing 3/4 length 3rd in a mile maiden special weight at Churchill Downs in his debut last month.
He has impressed in his works since, including when delivering a 1:00.80 5-furlong breeze at the same venue on October 11, and is taken to get off the mark at the second time of asking for trainer Dale Romans.
