Horse Racing picks for Laurel Park race track on Friday, September 10: Semper Fi

Jockey Samy Camacho atop Mattys Express

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Friday, including at Laurel Park race track. We are still in fine form with our picks; we have hit 51 winners in our last 114 races, profiting 71.7 units during this stretch. Let’s keep it rolling! Here are 4 runners whom we think look to be a class above the opposition in their respective races. It’s time to dive in and take a look at some potentially lucrative plays.

3:16 pm Laurel Park (Race 6) – Semper Fi 5/1

Race 6 at Laurel Park is a $34,500 Starter Optional Claimer over six furlongs on the dirt and this one can go to Semper Fi. This gelded son of Carpe Diem has done most of his racing at Gulfstream Park where he has won two races, one of which was in Maiden Claiming company with the other being in a Claimer. His latest victory was back in December of last year and, although he hasn’t won in eight starts since, he looks to have a perfect opportunity against this low grade opposition from a good draw in stall five.

3:48 pm Laurel Park (Race 7) – Trust Daddy 5/1

The $46,000 Maiden Special Weight for two-year-olds, which is Race 7 at Laurel Park, is a tricky race to call as there’s a mixture of debutantes and horses who haven’t shown a great deal thus far so with that in mind a chance is taken on the newcomer Trust Daddy. Jeremiah O’Dwyer’s Chestnut colt is a son of Bird Song who never ran at two but won four races in his first season at three and certainly knew where the winning line was. His dam Ma Petite was un-raced but she’s well related and this colt can give a good account of himself in this weak looking contest.

4:20 pm Laurel Park (Race 8) – Town Of Gold 8/1

Town Of Gold took the honours on his only start at Laurel Park back in October of last year and he is taken to win again here in Race 8, a $48,000 Allowance event and the penultimate race of the evening. This colt’s best form saw him finish second behind Arrest Me Red in a Black Type contest at Aqueduct last November and on that form he should go very well. Connections try lasix for the first-time here and that can bring out further improvement in him.

4:53 pm Laurel Park (Race 9) – Hair Of The Dog 4/1

The final race at Laurel Park is an open looking $25,000 Maiden Claimer for three to five-year-old Maidens in which Fake I D is likely to be a hot favourite but a case can be made for Hair Of The Dog who is drawn next to that horse in stall seven and will win one of these races sooner or later. He has plenty of course experience having ran here seven times and has second and third place finishes to his name in this grade so he is worth another go on his return to this course having been racing at Pimlico of late.
