1:07 pm ET Parx (Race 2) – Hometown Hero 8/5 (2-star play)
This 5-year-old entire placed 3rd in a $25,000 starter optional claiming contest when making his debut for current handler Michael L Catalano Jr. last month. He raced closer to the pace when beaten 9 lengths into 5th in a similar contest over the same track and trip earlier this month.
Both of those efforts came over a mile and with the drop in grade in his favor and the return to sprinting likely to suit, he looks up to delivering a victory.
1:34 pm ET Parx (Race 3) – Abidale 8/5 (2-star play)
Abidale showed good form at $10,000 claiming level when delivering a 4 1/2-length victory over this distance at Laurel in January and subsequently placed 2nd over the same distance in a starter optional claiming contest.
She was below that form when a well-beaten 5th in a $15,000 claimer at Parx last time out, however. She represents the track’s top trainer in Jamie Ness and, tackling an easier contest today, is taken to help jockey Ruben Silvera improve on his 18% strike-rate (31/169) at this meeting.
4:43 pm ET Parx (Race 10) – Under The Radar 5/2 (2-star play)
Under The Radar was claimed by his current connections following a neck success in a $25,000 optional claiming contest 3 starts back. He registered his first victory in 2 starts since joining the Jamie Ness stable when scoring by 3/4 length in a mile allowance at Laurel early last month.
He has switched tracks since then and is taken to deliver a fourth career success having registered some solid work since arriving at this venue, including a 51.06 4-furlong breeze last week.
