Horse Racing picks at Gulfstream Park race track on Wednesday, January 5: Don't miss out on Miss Mamba

Swiss Skydiver wins the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Racetrack.

There is plenty of great horse racing action to look forward to across America on Wednesday, including at Gulfstream Park race track. We have been on fire with our picks, up 247.65 units dating back to Aug. 5. We wrapped up 2021 by picking 3 winners in 4 races last Friday, including 2 at +350 for a total profit of 11.6 units. On Sunday we went 2 for 3, including a winner with our 3-star best bet, and we went 2 for 3 again on Monday and the same on Tuesday. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Here are four runners whom we expected to have a leg up on the rest of the competition. It’s time to dive in and discuss these potentially profitable plays.

3:00 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 6) – Miss Mamba 7/2

Race 6 at Gulfstream Park is a $28,000 Claiming contest for the female division over an extended mile and I like the horse in stall six, Miss Mamba, who should be well suited to this step up in trip. Her last two starts have resulted in two third place finishes at this course, both of which were over sprint trips but on breeding she will be much better suited to this distance and we could see a much improved performance from her this time around.

3:32 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 7) – Zamfir 3/1

Reynaldo Yanez’s Zamfir has plenty of ability and he was a good winner of a similar event to this last time out so I see no reason why he can’t back that up again here in Race 7 Gulfstream Park. This isn’t the most competitive $24,000 Claimer that you’ll ever see and the general feeling is that we haven’t to seen the best of this gelding yet so I wouldn’t want to be taking him on here,

4:04 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 8) – She’s So Beautiful 5/2

A field of seven are set to go to post for this $42,000 Starter Optional Claiming event, which is the penultimate race on the card, and this is a good race with preference for She’s So Beautiful who is a lovely daughter of Air Force Blue and should give a good account of herself. She’s won three times here at Gulfstream Park with her latest victory in a Black Type contest over seven furlongs being a hard fought one and I like her chances dropping back to this six furlong distance.

4:36 pm Gulfstream Park (Race 9) – Ghoul 10/1

The ninth and final race at Gulfstream Park is an open looking $62,000 Allowance Optional Claimer over five furlongs on the turf and it’s the Brazilian import, Ghoul, who can make best of his way home from a good draw in stall two. Mark Casse’s gelding has been doing well since he was shipped over the states back in 2019 and on his best form he can win this as he’s a two time winner in this grade and I expect him to run a big race.
