New York Knicks Money Line (-220)

I quite like what I’m seeing from the Knicks right now. Jalen Brunson and co. are peaking at just the right time, they head to Vegas for the NBA Cup final four with big aspirations after winning their 8th game in 9 outings. A familiar foe awaits them in the semifinals as they take on the Orlando Magic for the 4th and final time this season. These two teams actually met just last Sunday with the Knicks coming out on top 106-100 to snap a mini 2-game win streak the Magic have put together in head-to-head meetings.

It’s been the Desmond Bane show for Orlando over the past couple of weeks. He has finally set in with his new team and the last 6 games have seen him elevate his game offensively, scoring 37 points on 3 occasions. This type of play couldn’t have come at a better time for the Magic who have had their fair share of injuries. Franz Wagner injured his ankle against the Knicks on Sunday, it’s unclear if he will be able to gut it out and play in the semifinal. As good as Orlando has been at times this season, I believe they lack the necessary experience playing in big time moments. The Knicks have been to back-to-back East Finals, playing in a bunch of Game 7s along the way. Combine that with their recent run of 8 wins in 9 games, I think they have the winning formula here. Take New York to advance.

Mikal Bridges to Score 20+ Points (+300)

Everyone is expecting Jalen Brunson to go off here and for good reason. He has looked unstoppable in this match-up, averaging 31.3 points and 8.7 assists through 3 games. However, I feel like the Magic will come up with a gameplan solely based on containing Brunson and this is where Mikal Bridges comes in. Often called the Knicks iron-man for never missing a game, Bridges has performed steadily for his team and has delivered similar numbers to previous seasons with his efficiency going slightly up. Here’s the kicker though – Bridges has been a far better player in road games than those at Madison Square Garden.

For comparison he’s averaging 20.8 points per game away from home, compared to just 13.3 per game at MSG. His efficiency is almost at 60% on the road, up from 46.6% at home. A similar jump can be seen in the three-ball department. Bridges is making 48.3% of threes on the road, so I feel like he will have his imprint on Saturday’s game in Vegas. The last 10 meetings have seen him average 17.6 points per game, I’m sure he can up that to 20 in an elimination game weekend.

Paolo Banchero to Record 8+ Rebounds (-111)

Despite missing a chunk of games in the 2nd half of November, Banchero has stayed the Magic’s leader in rebounding which just tells us how important he is to this team on the defensive end. This will be particularly highlighted on Saturday with Franz Wagner out of the line-up. The German accounts for 6.1 rebounds per game (3rd on the team) and together with Banchero he has formed a one-two punch that very few teams in the NBA have.

In 3 games since his return Banchero has struggled a bit to get going in the scoring department, until he sorts that out I feel way more comfortable backing him to do well cleaning the glass. New York allows the 11th most rebounds to opposing power forwards, they too have had their fair share of injuries with Mitchell Robinson missing games this season. Other than Wendell Carter Jr., there’s really nobody else that can step up for Orlando here, so let’s hope Banchero delivers a strong performance on the glass.
