Minnesota Vikings -1.5 over Chicago Bears (-110)
The Vikings are a very well-coached unit on both sides of the ball, and it’s the defense that should propel Minnesota to a victory in this one. Led by one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL in Brian Flores, the Vikings return with an even more talented unit in 2025 that is ready to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. The question remains at QB, where JJ McCarthy will finally suit up for a meaningful game after looking very crisp in 2 preseason outings. Minnesota’s offense is as talented as ever, which should put the young quarterback in a great position to succeed in his opening game as a starter.
On the other side, the Bears are a much-improved team compared to last season’s unit, as Chicago brought in a number of free agents on both sides of the ball to bolster a team that has aspirations of making the playoffs in the NFC. They also brought in Ben Johnson to be the new head coach, along with new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who should have plenty of motivation to prove his worth after getting ousted in New Orleans. However, going up against this Vikings defense is a very difficult assignment for Caleb Williams in his first game in a new system. We’ll take Minnesota to win and cover this short number.

Under 44.5 (-110)
A season ago, Minnesota’s offense was excellent. However, we suspect that the Vikings will lean more on their rushing attack in McCarthy’s first start, especially since their offensive line is healthy and should be focused on establishing the run and making their young quarterback comfortable. On the other side, we have no doubt that Brian Flores will send a litany of complicated blitzes at Williams, and given the fact that the Vikings were one of the best units at stopping the run a season ago (2nd in opponent rush yards per game), it could be an uphill battle for this new-look Chicago offense. Let’s take the Under at Soldier Field.

Rome Odunze anytime touchdown scorer (+190)
Despite my concerns for Chicago in this game, I am optimistic about Rome Odunze and his potential to make a substantial leap this season. The Washington product hauled in 54 catches on 101 targets, which was good for the 3rd-most targets on the team behind DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, who is now back in Los Angeles with the Chargers. Those targets should be more evenly distributed in his sophomore season, and I’m pretty bullish on him racking up some targets this coming season, particularly in the red zone. At this price, it’s worth a shot to add some value to our Vikings vs Bears Same Game Parlay as a contrarian leg.
