The 2025 MLB postseason continues on Sunday with Game 1 of the ALCS between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays. These two teams took very different paths to get to this point, but most importantly, they’re both here among the last 4 teams remaining with aspirations of a World Series title. MLB best bet: Toronto Blue Jays F5 -0.5 over Seattle Mariners (-110)

This is a game that pits one team that relatively coasted through its Divisional Round series against another side that had to grind it-out through 15 excruciating innings on Friday in order to finally advance into the Championship Series. Following one of the greatest playoff games in recent memory, what will the Mariners do for an encore in Game 1? Unfortunately for Seattle fans, the expectation has to be that the Mariners come out a bit flat given the spot on Sunday.
Not only do the Blue Jays hold a massive rest advantage over the Mariners in this series opener, but Toronto will have all of its pitchers at its disposal for this matchup, something that Seattle can’t say. Given that this game is being played less than 48 hours after the Mariners’ dramatic win in the 15th inning to selvedge their season, Seattle had been scrambling for a starting pitcher in this game, especially with the likes of Luis Castillo and Logan Gilbert getting serious work in Friday’s victory. In steps Bryce Miller, who has been fine but unspectacular this season (5.68 ERA) and he should struggle on the road against a red-hot Toronto lineup at home. On the other side, Kevin Gausman was excellent against the Yankees last round, and he should be in good position to succeed against a Mariners lineup that could be a bit unfocused in the early stages of this game, especially riding the bench.
