The Seattle Mariners won Game 5 and now hold a series lead over the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto returns home for Game 6 as they look to keep their season alive while the Mariners are hoping to reach the World Series. The stakes are massive, and tonight’s game is set to be extremely entertaining. Let’s dive in and preview the 1st inning of Game 6!

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners – YRFI (+116)

Odds available at FanDuel sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to +110 odds.

The ALCS between the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays has been extremely entertaining with high scoring outings from both sides in this series. There has been an average of 10.4 runs per game scored through the first 5 games in this series. The longer a series goes on the higher the likelihood of repeat matchups, and that typically favors the batters. Both Logan Gilbert and Trey Yesavage started Game 2, and both starters will once again take the mound in Game 6. Neither starter was overly effective in their first outing of this series, combining for 5 runs allowed in the 1st inning alone. Gilbert faced just 15 batters across 3 innings of work in that start overall, allowing 2 earned runs with an additional unearned run crossing the plate. Logan is my preferred starter in this game given his experience and elite talent, but that doesn’t mean I expect a clean outing. Look for the Blue Jay batters to attack their pitches early on and perhaps strike in the 1st inning.

Yesavage faced 20 batters across 4 innings of work in his Game 2 performance. While he lasted an inning longer than his counterpart, he also allowed 5 earned runs in that outing. Control was an issue for the young right-hander with 3 free passes issued. We have seen his potential in the playoffs already with his elite outing against the Yankees, but facing the same lineup that just got to you in this setting is no easy task tonight. I expect the Mariners offense to strike early in this game with increased familiarity and confidence. Either pitcher is capable of allowing a solo home run, and these lineups are more than capable of stringing together massive innings as well. Given the pricing difference from FanDuel and other notable sportsbooks, +116 is a price worth taking a stab on in my opinion.
