Game 1 of the NLCS was a tightly contested matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers prevailing with a 2-1 victory. I expect another low scoring game in Game 2 with both teams sending their ace to the mound. Let’s dive into our YRFI/NRFI best bet for NLCS Game 2, while you can also grab our MLB picks for today’s matchup!

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers – NRFI (-140)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -145 odds.

Game 1 saw the NRFI hit between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee opened the game with Aaron Ashby before handing the ball off to Quinn Priester. The Brewers’ pitching staff pitched well, but their lack of offensive production resulted in the loss. Now, in Game 2, Milwaukee must pull out all stops in order to even the series at 1-1.

Freddy Peralta could have been sharper in the NLDS against the Cubs, but that is also a divisional opponent that faced him 4 times during the regular season. Los Angeles faced Peralta just twice, both coming in the middle of July. Peralta delivered 6 scoreless frames the first time before allowing 4 earned runs in the same matchup just 12 days later. I worry about the Shohei Ohtani plate appearance, as I do any time I suggest a NRFI in a Dodgers game. That being said, Peralta presents Milwaukee with their best chance of grabbing a win. I expect a strong start from the right-hander as he looks to step up for his club.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the starter for the Dodgers in Game 2 as they look to take a commanding lead on the road. If able to grab a 2-0 series lead before returning home, it would be a massive step towards another World Series appearance. Yamamoto was electric against the Reds, tossing 6.2 scoreless frames in the Wild Card Series. He was less effective against the Phillies, allowing 3 earned runs in his 4 innings of work.

Regardless, Yamamoto was terrific during the regular season with a 2.49 ERA across 173.2 innings pitched. Blake Snell showed why he is a 2-time Cy Young Award winner, but Yamamoto is currently the best pitcher on this staff. I believe he will bounce back in this outing with a strong start to the game. Given current pricing I lean towards the NRFI in Game 2.
