The 2025 MLB postseason continues on Thursday with Game 3 of the NLCS between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers and Game 4 of the ALCS between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners. Los Angeles holds a commanding 2-0 lead over Milwaukee after taking both contests on the road, while Seattle is up 2-1 on Toronto. The Pickswise team is on an 59-39-1 run in this MLB best bets series. Let’s build on that momentum and hopefully deliver some more winners!

MLB best bet: Seattle Mariners ML over Toronto Blue Jays (-125)

The Blue Jays recovered impressively from losing the first 2 games in Toronto, winning 13-4 on Wednesday. However, I don’t see the Mariners losing twice in a row at home. In fact, not including a meaningless season-ending series against the Dodgers (the M’s had already clinched the AL West and the #2 seed in the playoffs), they had not lost back-to-back contests at T-Mobile Park since July 20-21.

Now it is Seattle’s turn to bounce back. It obviously didn’t impact last night’s lopsided affair, but a late-inning home run by Cal Raleigh gives him some momentum heading into Thursday. He should have a favorable matchup with Toronto right-hander Max Scherzer, who is no longer reliable at 41 years old. Scherzer missed 3 months of the regular season and finished 5-5 with a horrendous 5.19 ERA. He has not yet pitched in the postseason. The Mariners have a massive pitching advantage with Luis Castillo taking the mound. Playing at home and sending a superior starter to the rubber, Seattle has every reason to win tonight.

MLB best bet: Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers Under 8 (-114)

Odds available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing

The Dodgers have predictably become a well-oiled machine now that they are playing meaningful, playoff baseball, but they have gotten it done with pitching – not hitting. Their output in the NLDS against Philadelphia could have been grounds for elimination; they scored 5, 4, 2 and 2 runs in the 4 contests. Los Angeles has crossed the plate just 7 times so far in the NLCS. Fortunately for the Dodgers, the Brewers have scored only twice – this after the Phillies scored 3 runs or fewer in 3 of the 4 games in the previous round.

More of the same should be in store for Thursday. The Dodgers are going with Tyler Glasnow, who has been incredible of late. The righty has fired 7.2 innings of scoreless baseball through 2 playoff appearances. He ended the regular season by compiling a 2.49 ERA in September, when he gave up no more than 1 run in 3 of his 4 outings. Milwaukee is opting for a bullpen day – which is not necessarily a bad thing. The Brewers boast a 1.74 bullpen ERA so far in the playoffs. They were 6th in bullpen ERA during the regular season.
