Major League Baseball playoff action rolls on with the second day of the Divisional Round on Sunday, October 5th. Following the first games of the American League series’ on Saturday, we have a pair of high-profile matchups on tap, as we’ll see Game 2 of the series’ between the Yankees vs Blue Jays and Tigers vs Mariners on Sunday. Even with only two games, there is still a bet that we like in the YRFI/NRFI market, so let’s get into our best bet for a quick and simple first inning wager on Sunday.

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays – NRFI (-112)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.

Game 1 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays was one that featured plenty of fireworks, and the YRFI did cash in that contest, with Toronto getting on the board first against New York starter Luis Gil. However, while we should still see plenty of runs in this series, I’m of the opinion that Game 2 will get off to a bit of a slower start when it comes to these offenses. For starters, Max Fried is the scheduled starter for the Yankees in Game 2 and he’s arguably the most proven commodity in this series on the mound, especially when it comes to performing in the postseason. Fried was excellent in the Wild Card series, and he should deliver once again in a spot where his team desperately needs a strong outing against a familiar divisional foe.

While Fried is my preferred starting option in this matchup, he’ll be opposed by a starter who is plenty talented and could certainly leave his mark on this contest. The Blue Jays are electing to throw out right-hander Trey Yesavage, who made a handful of regular season starts and was largely effective in that time. While this will be his first taste of the postseason, Yesavage is certainly up to the task (top 10% chase rate, whiff rate and ground-ball rate) and he’ll be going up against a Yankees lineup that is sputtering at the moment following a very poor effort in Game 1. There should be runs later in this game, but I’ll gladly take my chances on both starters holding the early edge on Sunday.
