The 2025 MLB postseason continues on Wednesday with a whopping four games in the American League and National League Divisional Series in what should be a scintillating day of baseball. The Pickswise team is on an 54-34 run in this MLB best bets series. Let’s build on that momentum and hopefully deliver some more winners today! Time to dive into our top picks for the NLDS today, while you can also find out our MLB picks for every game on Wednesday, October 8, and throughout the entire postseason.
MLB ALDS best bet: New York Yankees ML over Toronto Blue Jays (-155)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -180.
For my first best bet on Wednesday’s slate, let’s target the Yankees to force a deciding Game 5 in a series that has suddenly turned a bit following a massive comeback from New York in Game 3. Not only did the Yankees struggle on the mound in the early going of Game 3, but they couldn’t get anything going at the plate. That was until Aaron Judge stepped up to the dish and hit a game-tying 3-run blast to completely flip the momentum of a series that looked like it would’ve been a Blue Jays sweep. Now, Toronto will look to bounce back on the road while throwing out a bullpen game against a suddenly confident Yankees lineup. That already gives New York a leg up in this contest, and the Yankees will also be sending rookie starter Cam Schlittler, a pitcher who just tossed 8 shutout innings against the Red Sox in an elimination game not even a week ago. With that in mind, I’m confident in the right-hander ahead of Game 4, especially with this game being played at Yankee Stadium.
MLB NLDS best bet: Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD) over 17.5 outs (-150)
Odds available at bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -160.
For our second best bet, I’m going to go back to the well with a prop bet that has treated me very well in Dodger playoff games thus far, and that is to back a Los Angeles starter to clear his outs prop once again. After all, the Dodgers’ bullpen continues to be a major issue, and it’s impacted how manager Dave Roberts has elected to use his starting pitchers in the postseason to this point. Given that the bullpen nearly cost them the win in Game 2 on Tuesday, we can expect Roberts to continue to lean into his starting pitching, which has pretty clearly been the best unit in the postseason thus far.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered a rock-solid performance over 6.2 innings of work of the Wild Card series against the Reds, and the Dodgers’ top starter should have a pretty long leash in this one — especially since Los Angeles currently holds a 2-0 series lead and has a bit of a cushion to work with. It certainly helps matters that the Japanese ace has been brilliant this season, particularly over the last few months. In fact, Yamamoto has reached 6.0 innings pitched in 7 of his last 8 outings dating back to August 18. Given that we just need Yamamoto to reach a full 6.0 innings of work to clear this number, I’ll gladly back the right-hander to clear his outs prop for the second time this postseason.
