The 2025 MLB postseason continues on Saturday with Game 5 in the NLDS between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers. It’s a win-or-go-home situation, with the winner advancing to the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers while the loser is eliminated. The Pickswise team is on an 53-36-1 run in this MLB best bets series. Let’s build on that momentum and hopefully deliver some more winners today!

MLB best bet: Milwaukee Brewers ML over Chicago Cubs (-130)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
This series has been a clean sweep so far for the home side. The Brewers took care of business in the first 2 games in Milwaukee before the Cubs hit back by taking 2 straight in Chicago. I’m going to stick with that trend. Based on both recent form and the season-long sample size, it is simply tough to fade the Brew Crew when they are playing in the friendly confines of American Family Field. Manager Pat Murphy’s club compiled a 52-29 home record during the regular season; in all of Major League Baseball, only Philadelphia and Toronto won more games in their own park.
Starters are unconfirmed as of Saturday night; regardless of who is pitching, both teams will basically be using a combination of lots of pitchers with everyone being on an extremely short leash. Any hint of a struggle will lead to that pitcher making a quick exit. I feel better about Milwaukee’s arms. Jacob Misiorowski will almost certainly feature along with Jose Quintana. Misiorowski may be inconsistent, but the talent is undeniable and he pitched 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball against the Cubs on Monday. Quintana did the same on Wednesday. Chicago has the option to go with Shota Imanaga on full rest, but the left-hander got rocked in Game 2 (4 earned runs on 5 hits in 2.2 innings) and has given up a ridiculous 18 home runs in his last 11 starts. The Cubs will probably have a tougher time piecing together a bullpen game, so I’m rolling with the Brewers at home.
MLB best bet: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-128)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
Yelich has been the leader of the Milwaukee franchise for almost a decade now. It would only be fitting if the 33-year-old plays a big role in sending his team to the NLCS. And it would make sense, too. Yelich is 5-for-15 in this series and has covered this prop in 3 of 4 games. He also ended the regular season by hitting safely in 5 of the last 6 contests.
It’s worth noting, as well, that Yelich is 5-for-12 lifetime against Imanaga with a home run. He is 3-for-7 against Colin Rea, who also figures to see the mound for Chicago at some point on Saturday.
