MLB best bet: New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Under 8 (-105)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
Max Fried is toeing the rubber for the Yankees on Sunday as they look to bounce back from their Game 1 loss in Toronto. Fried went 19-5 in 2025 with a 2.86 ERA and 1.10 WHIP to go along with a 189-to-51 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 195.1 innings. The southpaw could not have been better in his lone start against the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card Series, firing 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just 4 hits. Fried most recently faced the Blue Jays on September 7, when he worked 7.0 innings and gave up 3 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk during a 4-3 victory.
Toronto is countering with rookie Trey Yesavage, who has made just 3 big-league appearances. Early returns are encouraging, as the 22-year-old is 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA and 16 strikeouts through 14.0 innings. Yesavage will be backed by a solid bullpen that compiled a 3.98 ERA during the regular season. The Blue Jays used 4 relievers after Kevin Gausman left in the sixth inning on Saturday, but none of the 4 threw more than 17 pitches. Toronto had 5 days off following the regular season and has another day off on Monday, so everyone in the ‘pen will be more than ready to go in Game 2.

MLB best bet: Seattle Mariners ML over Detroit Tigers (+112)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
Even with Tarik Skubal on the mound for Detroit, the value is on Seattle as a home underdog. In 2 regular-season appearances against the Mariners, Skubal went 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA. That should give the M’s confidence that they can get to the southpaw for at least a couple of runs in Game 2 on Sunday – and a couple might be enough for Luis Castillo. Seattle’s veteran right-hander has been unbelievable of late, with just 3 runs allowed in his last 4 outings across 25.1 innings. During this stretch, Castillo has 24 strikeouts and only 2 walks.
Both bullpens were taxed in an 11-inning thriller on Saturday night, won by the Tigers 3-2. Keep in mind, though, that Seattle just had 5 days off thanks to a first-round bye. Its relievers are fine. Fatigue is much more of a factor for Detroit, which battled the Cleveland Guardians in a tense 3-game Wild Card Series earlier this week. Also don’t forget that the Mariners went 51-30 at home. I don’t see them losing in the friendly confines of T-Mobile Park on back-to-back days.
