We have an elite double-header of high-stakes baseball tonight as the NLDS heats up with a pair of Game 2s — Dodgers vs Phillies and Cubs vs Brewers on Monday, October 6. Playoff baseball brings no shortage of storylines, and with expanded betting menus in the postseason, it is easier than ever to find an entertaining bet. With that in mind, let’s break down our YRFI/NRFI best bets for both matchups.

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Los Angeles Dodgers vs Philadelphia Phillies – NRFI (-138)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -140.
Game 2 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Phillies is set to be an intense matchup between 2 powerhouse organizations with their hopes set on a World Series ring. Game 1 of this series was stolen by the Dodgers after Philadelphia jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. With 2 runs scored in the sixth inning followed by 3 runs in the sevent, Los Angeles was able to power back and take a 1-0 lead on the road. The only scoring we are focused on for Game 2 is in the first inning, however. We have a battle of southpaw starters as the Dodgers will start Blake Snell, and the Phillies will roll with Jesus Luzardo.
Snell was tremendous in his postseason debut with the Dodgers, tossing 7.0 innings of 2-run ball against the Reds in the Wild Card Series, racking up 9 Ks along the way. He faces a tougher offensive unit this time around, but his handedness should help with the more powerful bats in the Phillies’ order. Snell did also just fired 7.0 scoreless frames against this Phillies unit on September 17. That recent matchup could help the Phillies batters in terms of familiarity, but I trust Snell’s stuff…especially in the first inning.
Like Snell, Luzardo also faced his opposing lineup on September 17. He delivered 7.0 innings of his own but allowing 4 earned runs in that span. Luzardo was very good for the Phillies in 2025 with 183.2 innings and a 3.92 ERA. He is a strikeout arm with 216 punchouts during the regular season — and that ability to find the third strike could prove crucial in the first inning of this matchup. With the lethal Dodgers lineup as his opposition, I don’t expect a perfect inning — but at current pricing I do side with the NRFI in Game 2.

YRFI/NRFI Best Bet: Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers – YRFI (+105)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to +100 odds.
Our second first-inning bet of the day is more related to price than anything else. At +105 odds, I have a hard time not siding with the YRFI in Game 2 of the NLDS between the Brewers and Cubs. Milwaukee took a 1-0 series lead over its division rival in Game 1, winning 9-3 . I find the Brewers to be the superior team at the moment and believe they will grab another win in Game 2. Part of the reasoning for that is the current form of Chicago’s Shota Imanaga.
Imanaga is a pitcher I generally have trusted in his time as a MLB pitcher. His recent outings have been less inspiring, however, as the southpaw hurler is struggling mightily with containing the home-run ball. Imanaga allowed 16 home runs in his last 10 starts with at least 1 home run surrendered in each of those outings. This includes his first postseason start of the season where he lasted just 4 innings against the Padres. Milwaukee presents a tough matchup for most opposing starters, and the same is true in Game 2 this evening.
Aaron Ashby is the scheduled starter for the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2. Ashby tossed 66.2 innings during the regular season for the Brewers across 43 appearances. Only 1 of those outings was a start, serving as the opener for a deep Milwaukee bullpen. Ashby is taking on that role again in Game 2 of this series, making his second appearance already after delivering 1.1 scoreless frames in Game 1. The left-hander is clearly set to play a large role in this series, and while he is generally tough to get runners on against, the Cubs boast a very good lineup. Given current odds, I side with the YRFI in this spot.
