Best MLB player prop for Monday: Cease fire

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Cease (84) pitches against the Seattle Mariners during the first inning of a spring training game at Peoria Sports Complex.

Happy Monday! We have a long week of baseball ahead of us and although we have a smaller slate of games today, there’s one player prop that I really like. But before that, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchups.

I’ve started this season 5-0 on MLB player props, so let’s hope the streak continues today!

Dylan Cease (CHW) under 7.5 strikeouts (-110)

An opposing starting pitcher has recorded at least 8 strikeouts against the Angels just once in their 23 games this season. The Angels’ offense has been top tier recently, as they rank 2nd in OPS in the last 7 days while also having the 9th-fewest strikeouts in that span. They have been able to put the ball in play even when down in the count and have consistently been knocking opposing pitchers out of the game before the 5th inning.

Dylan Cease has had an exceptional start to the season as his 1.74 xERA shows his success is no luck. The righty has been throwing his slider more than ever in 2022, which has set up his 96 MPH fastball to look triple-digits. However, the Angels’ offense is a poor matchup for Cease, as the Los Angeles hitters swing early in the count and rarely let the opposing starter rack up strikeouts. I expect Cease to end with 5-7 strikeouts tonight, but more than 8 seems unlikely in this matchup. Back Cease under 7.5 strikeouts at a great price.
