MLB best bet: Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers Over 9 (+100)

Patrick Corbin was everyone’s favorite pitcher to fade from 2021 through 2024. It would not be a stretch to say that he was the worst pitcher in all of baseball pretty much on a consistent basis during that entire stretch. Corbin has improved this season, but he is still just 7-9 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. The Rangers’ southpaw has given up at least 3 runs in 6 of his last 9 starts and he has gotten through the sixth inning just once in his last 12 appearances.
The Marlins are countering with Adam Mazur, who is making his sixth appearance of the season and 14th of his career. After compiling a 7.49 ERA with San Diego last year, Mazur is 0-4 with a 4.85 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 17-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 26.0 innings with Miami. Fortunately for the 24-year-old, he should get some run support on Saturday. The Marlins have scored at least 5 runs in a whopping 10 of their last 12 games. Eric Wagaman, Troy Johnston and Heriberto Hernandez are all batting better than .400 over the past week.
MLB best bet: Arizona Diamondbacks over Philadelphia Phillies (-112)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
This 2025 campaign has been nothing short of a disaster for Phillies veteran Aaron Nola. The right-hander is 4-9 with a 6.44 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. He has allowed at least 6 runs in 2 of his last 3 starts and in 4 of his last 7. Nola now faces an Arizona club that has scored 5 runs or more in 11 of its last 15 games. Geraldo Perdomo is on an 8-game hitting streak, during which he has homered twice, driven in 6 runs and scored 7 more. Corbin Carroll is 8-for-22 with 4 RBIs and 5 runs in his last 6 contests.
Philadelphia will be going up against Arizona starter Zac Gallen, who is in resurgent form. Heading into August, Gallen’s ERA was 5.60 at the end of July, but he compiled a 2.57 ERA during the month of August and has pitched to a 2.89 ERA through 3 September appearances. The righty most recently took the mound on Monday against San Francisco, firing 6.0 innings of 1-run baseball. Obviously the Phillies present a dangerous lineup, but they have lost 2 of their last 4 outings and were shut out in their series finale against the Dodgers on Thursday.
