The week in Major League Baseball continues with a full 15-game schedule on Saturday. I’m on an absolute heater in the early stages of the season, with a 23-12-1 record so far in this best bets piece while going 3-for-5 on Same Game Parlays at +481, +632 and +439 odds and 5-1 on YRFI/NRFI picks. Pickswise’s MLB handicapping team on the whole is 38-18-2 on their best bets. Let’s keep it going as we get into my MLB best bets of the day!

MLB best bet: Cleveland Guardians F5 +0.5 over Philadelphia Phillies (-115)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Guardians dominated the series opener 6-0 on Friday, giving them a 3-game winning streak and a 5-1 record in their last 6 overall. They are 12-5 at home this season, while the Phillies are 9-10 on the road. Saturday’s matchup should position Cleveland well to pocket another home win while handing Philadelphia another road loss. Tanner Bibee is going for the Guardians. He is 3-2 on the season and they have won 4 of his last 5 starts. The right-hander has allowed no more than 2 earned runs in 3 of his last 4 appearances.
The Phillies are sending Ranger Suarez to the bump; Suarez missed the first month of the season due to a back injury. To say that his 2025 debut was disappointing would be an understatement. The left-hander gave up 7 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in 3.2 innings during a loss to Arizona last weekend. Asking Cleveland simply to be tied through 5 innings should not be too much.

MLB best bet: New York Mets ML over Chicago Cubs (-150)
Odds available at Bet365 Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Mets are 25-14 – good for the best record in the loaded NL East – following Friday’s 7-2 victory over the Cubs. A recent 3-3 road trip was underwhelming, but a return home should be just what the doctor ordered for New York. This club is 14-3 at Citi Field compared to 11-11 on the road.
The Cubs also lead their division, but they have lost 3 straight heading into Saturday. Their bats have suddenly cooled off, with just 8 runs scored over the last 3 contests in addition to a shutout loss at Milwaukee last weekend. Today’s pitching matchup also favors the Mets. Tylor Megill is taking the mound and he is 3-2 with a 2.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 36.0 innings of work so far this year. The Cubs are countering with a bullpen day that will be opened by Brad Keller (0-0, 3.78 ERA). That doesn’t bode well for a squad that is in the bottom 10 of bullpen ERA league wide. New York has great value on the money line.
