MLB best bet: Tampa Bay Rays vs Chicago Cubs Under 8 (-105)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Saturday’s contest in the Windy City projects to be a nice pitching matchup between Drew Rasmussen of Tampa Bay and Colin Rea of Chicago. Rasmussen is 10-5 with a 2.64 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. The right-hander has allowed more than 2 runs only once in his last 12 starts. Rea Rea has given up more than 2 runs just twice in his last 7 appearance, and 1 of those instances was a 3-run outing. Hitting conditions may not be great, either. The wind isn’t blowing out and rain is possible. The Cubs have scored no more than 3 runs in 4 of their last 6 games; the Rays have averaged just 2.7 runs per game in their last 7 overall.

MLB best bet: Cincinnati Reds ML over The Athletics (-116)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing

The Reds really should be bigger favorites in this one. With New York in free-fall mode, Cincinnati is suddenly just 1.5 games out of wild-card spot in the National League. The Athletics, on the other hand, have long since been eliminated from postseason contention in the American League. Motivation levels certainly aren’t equal. Moreover, the visitors should have an advantage on the mound with Hunter Greene going up against Luis Severino of the Athletics. Greene (6-4, 2.59 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) has given up a mere 2 runs through 13.1 innings across 2 September outings. Severino (6-11, 4.67 ERA) is saddled with a ridiculous 6.34 ERA at home in Sacramento.
