MLB best bet: New York Yankees -1.5 over Baltimore Orioles (-108)

At 75-85, the Orioles are just going through the motions down the stretch. They won’t be concerned with losing the series opener 8-4 and it’s unlikely that they will care much about Saturday’s contest. Tomoyuki Sugano is taking the mound and he comes in with a 4.54 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Baltimore is 0-5 in Sugano’s last 5 starts, during which he has allowed 20 runs (19 earned) in 21.1 innings. The 35-year-old righty just faced the Yankees last Saturday and surrendered 4 earned runs in 3.0 innings during a 6-1 loss.
New York, on the other hand, has everything to play for – tied in the American League East with Toronto at 92-68. Manager Aaron Boone’s club is red hot, having won 6 in a row and 9 of its last 10 contests. Cam Schlitter is a big reason why, as the Yankees are 3-0 in his last 3 starts and 6-1 in his last 7. This stretch includes 5.1 innings of 1-run baseball during a 7-1 victory over Baltimore this past Sunday. Six of the Bronx Bombers’ last 7 victories have come by multiple runs, and they should prevail by the necessary margin again on Saturday.
MLB best bet: Atlanta Braves ML over Pittsburgh Pirates (-162)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
Spencer Strider’s 2025 campaign marked a comeback from a 2024 elbow injury. Although it was mostly a disappointment, he has looked like the Strider of old over the last month. That sets him up nicely for a big 2026 season – and for an impressive finale to this year on Saturday. The right-hander has allowed just 7 earned runs in his last 5 starts spanning a total of 30.0 innings. Strider’s strikeout numbers had been lower than normal, but he has mowed down 20 batters in his last 3 appearances.
The Pirates are countering with rookie Bubba Chandler, who has compiled a 4.56 ERA in 6 career appearances (3 starts). That kind of inexperience does not bode well against an Atlanta offense that has been in fine form. The Braves have won 10 of their last 12 games; in those 10 victories they have scored 8, 11, 6, 5, 9, 10, 6, 6, 11 and 3 runs. They should be able to give Strider enough — probably more thane enough — run support in this one.
