MLB best bet: Texas Rangers ML over Los Angeles Angels (-130)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Rangers have not been anything special in 2025, but they have at least heated up enough such that they are probably going to be buyers at the trade deadline. Texas is 8-2 since the all-star break and 11-3 in its last 14 games overall. There is no reason to think this club will slow down with Nathan Eovaldi on the mound. Eovaldi is 8-3 with a sparkling 1.50 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 101 strikeouts compared to just 96 walks in 96.0 innings. He has been even more dominant on the road, sporting a 1.26 ERA while limiting opponents to a hopeless .187 batting average.
Los Angeles has actually been decent this season, but “decent” is not good enough to beat Eovaldi. Jose Soriano comes in with a solid 3.79 ERA, but he really hasn’t been that good. The right-hander’s WHIP is 1.40 and his strikeout-to-walk ratio is worse than 2-to-1 (108 Ks, 58 free passes). Soriano has faced Texas twice this year and is 0-2 with a 7.45 ERA. I’m backing the visitors with a ton of confidence.

MLB best bet: Seattle Mariners ML over The Athletics (-146)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
The Athletics don’t really have a home, so it’s no surprise that they stink there (20-32 record in Sacramento). This team isn’t entirely terrible, but it has a tough matchup on its hands with Bryan Woo toeing the rubber for Seattle. Woo is 8-5 with a 2.91 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and an amazing 121-to-24 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 126.2 innings of work.
Julio Rodriguez (4), Cal Raleigh and Randy Arozarena have all hit at least 3 home runs since the all-star break. Those guys alone should be able to knock in at least a few runs against Jeffrey Springs – even though Springs is a respectable starter for the A’s. And a few runs may be all that Woo needs. It should also be noted that Seattle owns a 3.72 bullpen ERA; the home side is saddled with a 5.32 ERA in that department – 2nd-worst in the entire league. When Woo and Springs exit, the visitors should only extend their advantage.
