The week in Major League Baseball continues with a full 15-game schedule on Wednesday. It’s an intriguing lineup that includes Guardians vs Yankees, Phillies vs Blue Jays, Padres vs Giants and Mets vs Dodgers. The Pickswise team has been in fine form through 2 months of the season. I’m 32-21-1 record so far in this best bets piece while going 4-for-8 on Same Game Parlays at +481, +632, +439, and +600 odds and 5-1 on YRFI/NRFI picks. Pickswise’s MLB handicapping team on the whole is 55-35-4 on their best bets. Let’s keep it going as we get into my MLB best bets of the day! Also don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for Wednesday’s slate.
MLB best bet: Philadelphia Phillies ML over Toronto Blue Jays (-102)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing
Mick Abel is taking the mound for the Phillies on Wednesday when they pay a visit north of the border. The highly touted 23-year-old made his MLB debut on May 18 and it could hardly have gone any better, as he fired 6.0 innings of shutout baseball on 5 hits while striking out 9 batters without walking anyone during a 1-0 Philadelphia victory.
The Blue Jays are countering with Jose Berrios, who has been mediocre this season and worse at home (4.43 ERA) than on the road (3.07). Plenty of guys in the Phillies’ lineup have fared very well against him in the past. Nick Castellanos is 8-for-21 with a home run and a double; Bryson Stott is 3-for-5 with a homer; Bryce Harper is 2-for-4 with 1 HR and 1 double. Toronto had been beating up on bad teams, but it got hammered by Philly 8-3 in the series opener on Tuesday. I’ll back the visitors to get the job done again in this one.

MLB best bet: Atlanta Braves F5 -0.5 over Arizona Diamondbacks (-130)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Braves have been extremely disappointing, but they at least have 2 things going for them on Wednesday. They are playing at home and Chris Sale is toeing the rubber. Atlanta is 17-12 at Turner Field in 2025 compared to 10-20 on the road. Sale was scuffling early in the year, but he has returned to his Cy Young-winning form from last season. The left-hander compiled a 1.11 ERA and a 40-to-10 strikeout to walk ratio in 32.1 innings during the month of May.
Arizona (3-9 in its last 12 overall) is playing even worse baseball than Atlanta and Zac Gallen (3-7, 5.54 ERA) has been a disaster. As such, the Braves are in a great spot for this contest. Atlanta has better value on the first 5 innings run line compared to the outright money line, plus this bet eliminates an unspectacular bullpen from the equation and allows us to not get bitten for Raisel Iglesias blows another save.
