MLB best bet: Boston Red Sox vs Milwaukee Brewers Under 8 (-118)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

A Wednesday afternoon special between Boston and Milwaukee offers an intriguing pitching matchup between Brayan Bello of the Red Sox and Freddy Peralta of the Brewers, and with it comes the feature of our MLB best bets. Bello has pitched far better than his 4.08 ERA and 1.70 WHIP would suggest. He has really had just 1 bad outing against Atlanta but has otherwise been extremely effective. On no other occasion has the right-hander allowed more than 2 earned runs and just 1 other time has allowed more than 2. Peralta is 5-3 with a 2.55 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 60.0 innings.

Boston’s lineup can be dangerous, but it has fared far worse on the road compared to at home. The Red Sox are batting .246 as visitors with 117 total runs scored; at Fenway Park those numbers are .259 and 153 runs. They are on a 4-game losing streak and during this stretch their run totals are 1, 1, 2 and 1. Interestingly, the Brewers’ bats are much worse at home (.219, 102 runs in 27 games) than they are on the road (.243, 138 runs in 28 games). It should also be noted that this is an interleague matchup with basically zero familiarity for the batters against the opposing pitchers. Christian Yelich (2-for-5 vs Bello) is the only player with more than 1 hit against Wednesday’s opposition. All things considered, the Under looks like a great play for our MLB best bets.
