The week in Major League Baseball continues with a full 15-game schedule on Wednesday. I’m on an absolute heater in the early stages of the season, with a 22-11-1 record so far in this best bets piece while going 3-for-5 on Same Game Parlays at +481, +632 and +439 odds and 5-1 on YRFI/NRFI picks. Pickswise’s MLB handicapping team on the whole is 37-15-2 on their best bets. Let’s keep it going as we get into my MLB best bets of the day! Also, make sure you check out our MLB picks for Wednesday’s slate.

MLB best bet: New York Yankees F5 -0.5 over San Diego Padres (-115)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

You have to like your chances with pretty much any bet involving the Yankees whenever Max Fried is on the mound. And you can feel even better about it whenever you can eliminate Devin Williams from the equation. That’s why I like a first 5 innings play better than the full game, and New York has very good value on the F5 run line for Wednesday’s contest against San Diego. Fried is 6-0 with a 1.01 ERA and 0.93 WHIP through 7 outings with his new team. The Yankees are 7-0 when he starts and have won those games by a combined score of 55-20. Fried has not allowed an earned run in his last 24.2 innings.

The Padres are countering with Dylan Cease, who has disappointed so far this season to the tune of a 1-2 record, 5.61 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Cease has surrendered at least 2 earned runs in all but 1 start and has gotten through 6 innings only once. The Yankees should have no trouble taking the lead after 5 innings before the bullpen gets involved later in the proceedings.

MLB best bet: Cincinnati Reds vs Atlanta Braves Under 8 (-120)

Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.

The Reds have been entirely inept at the plate through 2 games of their series in Atlanta. They got shut out in the opener before falling 2-1 in 10 innings on Tuesday. Dating back to the series finale against Washington, Cincinnati has crossed the plate a total of 2 times in its last 3 contests. Will things get any better with Grant Holmes on the bump? Maybe not. Atlanta is 3-1 in his last 4 starts and he just worked 6.0 innings against the high-powered Dodgers while yielding only 2 runs on 4 hits to go along with 9 strikeouts.

A pitchers’ duel should be in the cards for this one. The Braves are averaging an anemic 2.5 runs over their last 6 games and now have to face Hunter Greene. Cincy’s ace is 4-2 with a 2.53 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and an awesome 55-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 42.2 innings of work. There is no need to overthink this one – Under 8 is an outstanding play for this particular matchup.
