The MLB season continues on Wednesday, and the second half of the 2025 campaign has already produced a lot of exciting action on the diamond. While there are plenty of ways to wager on all of the action this season, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning — YRFI or NRFI. There is still value to be had in this market, so it’s no wonder that these bets have become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your wagers for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes.

The NRFI/YRFI market has been profitable for our MLB handicapping team this season, so let’s keep that momentum going! Here is today’s MLB YRFI/NRFI best bet, and don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME today.

YRFI/NRFI best bet: Padres vs Mariners – NRFI (-120)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

My first best bet in the YRFI/NRFI market comes in this interleague matchup between the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. Given how many runs have been scored in this series thus far, it’s a little bit nerve-wracking to go against the grain with a scoreless first inning here, but pitching should reign supreme on Wednesday, especially early on. After all, Bryan Woo (2.94 ERA, 0.94 WHIP) is getting the ball for Seattle, while Yu Darvish (9 runs allowed over his last 5 outings) will take the mound for San Diego. Couple that with some offenses that are due for a bit of regression following a pair of high-scoring contests, and all signs point me in the direction of the NRFI for the first time in this series.

YRFI/NRFI best bet: Reds vs Dodgers – NRFI (-125)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -130.

For my second best bet in this market on Wednesday, let’s roll with the NRFI in Los Angeles between the Reds and Dodgers. After a very disappointing series against the Padres last weekend, the hosts seem to be back in good form and it all starts on the mound for Los Angeles in this one. Following his worst outing of the season by some distance against the lowly Rockies, I expect Shohei Ohtani to be locked in to start Wednesday’s game against a Reds lineup that has struggled mightily in this series thus far. However, the Dodgers shouldn’t be expected to start fast either against Nick Lodolo (3.05 ERA, top 5% walk rate, top 12% chase rate), who has allowed just 4 runs over his last 5 outings. Let’s back a scoreless inning at Dodger Stadium.
