The NBA brings a 6-game slate for us on Friday, as the league settles down from a flurry of trade activity in recent days. Many teams will look different, having shipped some of their stars to other teams like the Clippers did with James Harden and the Mavericks did with Anthony Davis. It will be interesting to see how the players settle into their new environments, but for today, I’ve identified a couple of players that should make the most of their opportunities. Let’s get into my best NBA player props for Friday, while you can find all of our NBA previews for picks and analysis on EVERY game, EVERY day.
Brook Lopez (LAC) to score over 9.5 points (-106)
Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook at the time of publishing.
Ivica Zubac is gone from the Los Angeles Clippers, meaning Brook Lopez is likely to slide into the starting lineup. He has shown once again this month that he is a capable 3-point shooter, knocking down 41.7% of his attempts. The matchup is a solid one, and could be even better with Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis misses the game. He is currently listed as questionable.
Regardless of Sabonis’ status, Lopez should be able to dominate in the post. The Clippers center has a considerable size and bulk advantage, while the Kings are bottom-10 in blocks per game. Moreover, Lopez has a soft touch around the rim, and against undersized opponents, he typically thrives. Look for him to take advantage of higher usage resulting from Harden and Zubac’s departures.
Myles Turner (MIL) over 14.5 points (-101)
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo remaining out, Myles Turner should continue his run as one of the focal points of the Milwaukee offense. He has hit 15 or more points in 5 of his last 6 games and has started this month hot from deep — knocking down 41.7% of his shots from distance in February. Not to mention, there could be a little extra motivation here, playing against his former team. Over the last 10 games, the Indiana Pacers are 25th in opponent three-point percentage..
Turner has been more aggressive in looking for his shots, attempting 10 or more field goals in 5 of the last 6 games. He has carried his impressive shooting from the free throw line in January to this month, as well. The Bucks center has connected on more than 80% of free-throw attempts in both months. With him maximizing those opportunities, do not be surprised to see him continue his scoring streak tonight.
