The NBA starts off the week with an 8-game slate for us to enjoy. The Oklahoma City Thunder will be in action, but the reigning NBA champs have looked vulnerable of late, with 4 losses over their last 10 games. They will be looking to increase their lead in the Western Conference to a more comfortable margin once more tonight as they host the Charlotte Hornets. With the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference clashing too in the Knicks and Pistons, we could be in for an exciting night of action. Let’s break down my best NBA player prop bets for Monday, January 5, while you can also find out ourĀ NBA picks for every game tonight.
Jaylen Brown (BOS) over 30.5 points (-102)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Jaylen Brown has really stepped up this season, and look no further than his last contest for evidence. The Celtics star dropped a 50-piece against the Los Angeles Clippers. It has helped to up his average over the last 9 games to 32.7 points per game. He has been fantastic getting to the rim, too, ranking 12th among players in paint points per game this season.
Brown is taking on a Chicago Bulls team that is just 23rd this season in defensive rating. Jalen Smith and Zach Collins are both unavailable for Chicago, so it will be Nikola Vucevic getting the majority of the minutes at center. With the veteran being far from a great help defender or shot blocker, Brown should be able to continue playing to his strengths here and attacking the rim.

Quinten Post (GS) over 1.5 made threes (+116)
Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.
Golden State Warriors center Quinten Post has had a rollercoaster season shooting the ball from deep so far, but recent signs have been encouraging. He has knocked down at least 2 shots from deep in 3 of his last 5 games while attempting at least 6 shots in each of the last 3. Considering he is a 34% shooter from deep this season, that should be enough attempts for him to hit this over tonight.
Ivica Zubac will likely pose a threat to the Warriors with his size inside, so look for Post to play a larger role, matching up with him on the interior. In the first meeting between these teams, Post played a role spacing the floor and pulling Zubac out of the paint defensively, knocking down 4 three-pointers in the process. Expect him to be a factor in that category once more tonight.
