Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Per usual, Saturdays are arguably the best day in the NHL. Not only do we have 9 games on the board, it also means we have afternoon action. Better yet, the first game of the day is lined up to be arguably the best one of the day. We’ve also targeted that matchup in our NHL mega parlay, along with 2 other plays with incredible value. Since the action on the ice gets started earlier than usual, let’s dive right in.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

New Jersey Devils 3-way ML (+115) over New York Rangers

The Metro Division could see a bit of a shuffle today with the Devils and Rangers facing off this afternoon. It will be the first puck drop of the day and although not in the same state, these teams are close enough where they’ve become somewhat of rivals. The Devils haven’t been quite as relevant in recent seasons for things to get too heated, but this year couldn’t be more opposite. Jersey has been the biggest surprise of the season, and although they’ve lost their top spot in the Metro, they still sit at an impressive 24-12-3.

The Rangers are just 1 point behind, and we expect the Devils to maintain their position after today’s game. New York may be riding high after a few wins, but their most recent was against the Montreal Canadiens, which isn’t saying much. The Devils are going to be coming out with a vengeance after their loss on Thursday night, and having lost to the Rangers in overtime last month. However, they defeated New York by multiple goals in their first meeting, and we only need them to win within regulation for this play.

Ottawa Senators 3-way ML (+150) over Seattle Kraken

The Kraken recently burned us with quite an impressive win over the Toronto Maple Leafs as significant road underdogs. That victory has earned them some respect in the pricing of this game. However, that’s provided some great value on the Senators in this spot. Firstly, Ottawa has been off since Tuesday, and has been at home since the start of the new year. They’ve also looked like a much stronger team since the short Christmas break.

Since that long weekend, they’ve taken down the Boston Bruins, the best team in the NHL, and the Washington Capitals on the road, who were arguably the hottest team in the league at the time. Following those wins, they’ve also won back-to-back home games. The most recent was a shutout win. While doing that to the Columbus Blue Jackets isn’t saying much, holding the Buffalo Sabres to just 1 goal in the win prior is extremely impressive. The Sabres are the highest-scoring team in the NHL, and the Kraken are not a team known for high-scoring affairs. Seattle is solid at limiting shots, but Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk couldn’t care less. He should lead this rested Sens team to another home victory.

Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5 (-115) over Detroit Red Wings

The Kraken pulled off a recent upset, which came by way of the Maple Leafs. While frustrating, we’re not going to base everything on a single game. Toronto is still a star-studded team and even after that upset, their 13-3-4 home record is still the 3rd-best in the NHL. They’ll be there once again as they try and extend their cushion over the Tampa Bay Lightning for 2nd place in the Atlantic Division.

They should be able to do just as they welcome in a Red Wings team that was just in Detroit last night taking on the shot-crazy Florida Panthers. The Wings had starting goaltender Vile Husso in net for that matchup, which bodes well for Auston Matthews and the Leafs. Husso was brought over to improve Detroit’s goaltending, which allowed Toronto to not just beat them all 4 times last year, but allowed 5, 7 and 10 goals in 3 of those games. Even this season, the Leafs beat the Wings by multiple goals. That game was in Detroit so now at home, expect Toronto to come out to avenge their recent performance.
